Privacy
Your diary is yours alone.
The short version
Aion stores everything on your Mac. No cloud. No account. No telemetry. Nothing leaves the machine. There is no server to breach because there is no server.
Data storage
Your diary entries are stored as JSON files in your local Application Support directory. Aion does not transmit, upload, or sync your data to any external service. Backups are written to disk alongside your data — never to a remote server.
Network access
Aion does not require an internet connection to function. The app makes no network requests. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, and no usage tracking embedded in the application.
Location
Aion can optionally use CoreLocation to suggest your current city for today's entry. This is processed entirely on-device. No coordinates or location data are transmitted anywhere. You can deny location permission and Aion works identically — you simply type the city yourself.
Apple Reminders
If you choose to mirror a reminder to Apple Reminders, Aion uses the system EventKit framework. This interaction is between Aion and macOS — no third-party service is involved. You can use reminders without this integration.
Third-party dependencies
None. Aion is built entirely on Apple frameworks — SwiftUI, AppKit, CoreLocation, EventKit. There are no third-party libraries, SDKs, or analytics packages.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand visitor traffic. It collects page views, scroll depth milestones, link clicks, viewport dimensions, browser language, and user-agent string. IP addresses are anonymised. No cookies are set beyond what GA4 requires. The Aion application itself contains no analytics of any kind.
