Privacy
Your diary is yours alone.
The short version
Aion stores everything on your Mac. No account, no telemetry, no tracking. The one thing that can ever leave your machine is an optional iCloud backup you switch on yourself, and it goes only to your own private iCloud.
Data storage
Your diary entries are stored as JSON files in your local Application Support directory. Local backups are written to disk alongside your data. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you turn on iCloud backup, described below.
Network access
Aion does not require an internet connection to function, and makes no network requests unless you enable iCloud backup. There is no analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking in the application.
iCloud backup
Aion can optionally mirror your diary to your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit. It is off by default and one-way: a backup only. The copy lives in your personal iCloud account; the developer cannot read it, and it is never shared with anyone. Leave it off and Aion stays entirely on-device.
Location
Aion can optionally use CoreLocation to suggest your current city for today's entry. This is processed on-device. No coordinates or location data are transmitted. You can deny location permission and type the city yourself.
Apple Reminders
If you choose to mirror a reminder to Apple Reminders, Aion uses the system EventKit framework. This interaction stays between Aion and macOS. You can use reminders without the integration.
Third-party dependencies
None. Aion is built entirely on Apple frameworks: SwiftUI, AppKit, CoreLocation, EventKit. There are no third-party libraries, SDKs, or analytics packages.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how far they are read. It records page views, scroll-depth milestones, outbound link clicks, viewport dimensions, browser language, and user-agent string. IP addresses are anonymised by Google. No personal data is collected. The Aion application itself contains no analytics of any kind.
