The short version

Aion stores everything on your Mac. No cloud. No account. No telemetry in the app. Nothing leaves the machine.

Data storage

Your diary entries are stored as JSON files in your local Application Support directory. Aion does not transmit, upload, or sync that data to any external service. Backups are written to disk alongside your data.

Network access

Aion does not require an internet connection to function. The app makes no network requests. There is no analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking in the application.

Location

Aion can optionally use CoreLocation to suggest your current city for today's entry. This is processed on-device. No coordinates or location data are transmitted. You can deny location permission and type the city yourself.

Apple Reminders

If you choose to mirror a reminder to Apple Reminders, Aion uses the system EventKit framework. This interaction stays between Aion and macOS. You can use reminders without the integration.

Third-party dependencies

None. Aion is built entirely on Apple frameworks — SwiftUI, AppKit, CoreLocation, EventKit. There are no third-party libraries, SDKs, or analytics packages.

This website

This website uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how far they are read. It records page views, scroll-depth milestones, outbound link clicks, viewport dimensions, browser language, and user-agent string. IP addresses are anonymised by Google. No personal data is collected. The Aion application itself contains no analytics of any kind.
